About me
My name is Kirsten Louwrier and I make all the products you see here. I have a sewing studio in the attic of our home.
We recently moved from my hometown Utrecht, to a small village called Ameide.
A degree in Social Studies, working in property finance, I have had all kinds of jobs, but the one thing I always did was sew and knit. Now I have two kids and free time is very rare, and I found that in every second I had, I had this urge to make.
The stuff I made for Hedwig and Hasse, I put on Instagram in 2018, and little by little I got some request from lovely people if I could make something for their children too.
For me this was a very revealing moment and tried to professionalize a bit in the beginning of 2020.
I have some education in pattern making and sewing, but I mostly learn by doing, repeating and researching.
I sew clothes, accessories, knit stuff and make quilted blankets on request. For these blankets I use natural fibers like linen and cotton for the outside and safe and soft wool high quality HOBBS batting for the inside. Wool is known for being warm in the winter and keeping cool in the summer. It is breathable and therefore safe to use as a blanket. For the patterns I use in my appliqué I get inspired by leftover pieces of fabric from making clothes. This also helps with reducing waste, and making the process circulair.
It is not a rare occasion that I lay awake at night thinking of a new sewing technique or designing a new wintercoat for Hasse in my mind.
I am very very very happy to have chosen this path, finally, and cannot express my gratitude to all the people who have show support and love.
x Kirsten
